Website vs online store: which one does your business actually need?

Netsarthi Team · 20 Sep 2026

Not every business needs a shopping cart. Here is a simple way to decide.

The honest answer is that most small businesses do not need an online store on day one — and paying for one too early is the most common mistake we see.

You need a website if

You sell services, take bookings, or your products need a conversation before a sale. A website with clear service pages and an enquiry form will out-perform a half-empty store.

You need an online store if

You sell standard products at fixed prices, you can ship or deliver reliably, and customers already know what they want when they arrive.

The middle path

Start with a website that has a product gallery and WhatsApp ordering. When orders get too many to handle manually, that is exactly the right moment to add a proper cart.
